Hi Hugh. Yes, the Kickstarter campaign has been interesting. After one week, I've got $750 pledged. Even if I don't hit my target of $3K, it's been good to get some buzz going on the new album. And just having all these people support me feels really rewarding. Better than cash, actually. Please forward this link to any and all! : http://kck.st/bk3wXl

Hey Hugh, Try G G D G B D
tune the high E to a D
tune the A string DOWN to a G
turn the low E UP to a G
So you'll have 2 G's but at different octaves
Keith Richards used this a lot.
Play a two finger chord - second string first fret and 4th string, 2nd fret
The open chord and that chord will have you jamming for hours (Stones style)
To play a straight C chord - bar the 5th fret with only your left forefinger across all strings.
To play a straight D chord do the same thing on the 7th fret
Have fun!

Hugh, I checked out Too Sad To Cry....excellent......my new music friend ! Grrrreat story line. Thanx for addin Biscuits & Bourbon.....it really was intriguing to get the Cigar Box Guitar, find a tuning for it, and try and write a toon on it. I finally settled a a G-D-G-Bflat tuning for B&B. I know I'll work other tunings and try and write sum new material on it also.
Keep up the good work !

Of coure as we know.....well that is to say, those of us with a degree in Beatledom: Paul and George were both crackers about the uke. Legend has it that George wrote "Something" on the uke, and of course Paul did that beautiful tribute to George on the uke. Any ways......Ukulele Preservation sociey thanks you, I thank you, the boys in the band thank you and behalf of my self I hope we passed the audition.......Keep up the good work Hugh...also are you familiar with the Uke Farm ?

I have just been to the page represented by "the Truth" and found it totally gut wrenchinghow ordinary people survive such inhumane treatment from both the enemy- and their own is such a travestyI feel that song is a good representation
of this and we are honoured that you remembered us on your News

Hugo,
I just posted this on Chris (Eaglehead's) page and thought it would be a good idea to post here too to help clarify my reasons for posting my latest topic........
........................................................................................................................
I just want to stop by and clear up a misunderstanding about my post on the lunatic writings of the 'protocols'. It seems everyone got the wrong idea that I SUPPORT the protocols!!!! Yikes! Nothing could be FURTHER from the truth!
I made that post simply to bring awareness to the fact that there's a group of powerful, insanely rich and influential nutcases that actually follow these 'protocols' as GOSPEL!!
I am not in the slightest bit racist and never meant for my topic to appear that way. I made an edit to my first post there to hopefully clarify things a tad.
Peace and purrs,
Titania.

Hugh,
I've temporarily sated the gear-beast within...just bought an older Yamaha FG 512 acoustic 12-string on Ebay. I was, and am, fearful of travelling my beautiful Guild 12 to China, but I just GOTTA have a 12 to play here. So, for a couple hundred bucks I bought what I hope is a very playable, travelable 12er to keep me company here in Shanghai. Can't wait to get my hands on it. As for the Robo-Axe, I'm really torn between the coolness factor and my more traditinal leanings. Someday maybe, but not yet.
BTW i love you Beatle covers, I play stuff like that for my own amusement. You do them proud.
PAX,
Kurt

Thanks for the station adds and your comments regarding my recording and musicianship on "The Circle" ... It means a lot my friend ... It's a long process but I'm trying to get better at smoothing off some of my rough edges ... although I've got a long way to go, I think I'm starting to understand the whole recording thing a little bit ... I hope as time progresses it will get better ...
I think I really am actually a much better musician than I appear to be ... I have been intimidated by the recording thing ever since I started learning the process a few short years ago ... I've always been able to kick it out live but there is something that has always held me back while recording ... for someone who fears very little it seems pretty silly ...
But just reading your blogs and listening to your recordings has helped me tremendously ... thanks amigo !

Hi Hugh...thanks for suggesting asthma...I think this is the problem...I've had it before...but I never know what it is...could be a cold...not sure what to do about it though...I hate western medicine and worry about their treatments...I don't like steroids...don't like their side effects and they cause your body not to heal...scary to me...maybe there is something without steroids....For now Mucinex has gotten rid of the congestion for now and I sang yesterday...read up on asthma again and will look into what to do about it. The hardest thing about what they say is issues of dust free houses and also the love of my life is a cat...who sleeps in my bed, and I couldn't possibly put her out of my bedroom...and that's the first thing they would tell me to do...ha ha...my cat would go crazy...and so would I...I wish I could change the title of the blogs in recent topics.

Your surname origin Hamilton: The true origin of this surname is uncertain, but many consider it to be a place name, derived from "hamell," meaning "treeless hill" or "home" and " dun," which means "settlement" or "fortified place."
Surname Origin: English, Scottish
Possible spanish names as literal translations : Hugo Sinarboleda Colina ( thath will mean Hugh Treeless Hill LOL)
Hugo de La Casa (Hugh of the Home )
One personal invention :
Hugo Roquero (Hugo Rocker LOL)

Woody-I am you and you are me and we are all together. What's in a name? Yeah
I see the Gunthrie thing but I was referring to Dylan's courage in writing about his own life and the people in his life. Ballad in Plain D was written about his girlfriend Suze Rotolo (and shw asn't happy about it) And Sad-Eye Lady was written about his wife Sara. Idiot Winds was about a number of people!!! It take courage to piss people off and you have a of of courage!

Doin' music with two different sets of CONVERSATION SUICIDE, to help determine the future direction. I hope the cream will rise to the top. Either way, three side projects goin', even with FLAKEY band members, I can STILL get the music out there & grow as a musician!
ARTFEST MUSIC is adding the Berringer 500w power AMP for PA, with Berringer mixing board. Most exciting part is USB out to computer, so we might not have to use crappy tape recording condensor mics for live recordings at the practice space (our humble abode).
AND the BASS sounds good again, even though I couldn't swing a TUBE fancy-shmanzy head. It's a PEAVEY Tour Series 450 solid-state head, and it's fairly sturdy (which we need for travel, and crazy moshing fans with BEERS in hand) and has a GREAT sound. SO our LIVE sound should improve drastically.
KEEP lovin' your wife and daughter & makin' time for them while you walk on this music-filled road of life. I know you treasure the time you have to grow & create musically, as much as I do, with a busy family life.
Uh.... FAMILY doin' pretty good. LOADS of park, family dinners, basketball & chill time lately (movies, video games, etc.)... Another thing I'll be LEARNIN' to make time for ALL my life!
Get to have 5 bands, and PLAY In two of them, at an underground haus party this SAturday it's PHLEGM's "30th" Birthday party (only off by a few years!), and I'm honored to have 3 of my favorite Tucson Bands playin' with us!
That's what's been happenin'!
Keep doin' that beautiful music thang you do, and lovin' that family of yours!
-Phlegm

Just had to stop by and share some news... first, just finished playing a two-day festival (played big set on Friday and all the tweener (30 minute) sets between the main sets on Sat. We had the full band... tremendous response... big fun!
Then got home and had a message requesting that I open for Shawn Mullins. I'll be playing solo... eeeeeek! But I figured you may have heard of him. So, exciting but completely nerve wrecking too. HA! music, what therapy.
Anyway, it made me think of you...

My time has been so limited over the past few months that I haven't been able to really delve into iac very deep... but the more I listen, the more I'm pulled in. So hopefully this year, I can finally get my own station going and sink my feet in a little more.

Much obliged for the compliment, Brother H. Though he'd been playing the slide for a long time on electric guit, Danny had only been on his new dobro lay-down for a couple months at the time of that recording.
Interlude was written by a good friend Tommy "G" Giarratano....he does the opening on his classical but got a bit buried in the final mix, much to his chagrin. When he plays it out now, though, he says he hears (and misses) all the other parts.....feels kinda naked (sorry, not a good visual, lol)

If you can get the director to post it there, that would be awesome! The audio quality will be a lot higher too and in stereo and you can embed the player anywhere. :-)

Hey Mr. Hugo -
Well, as much as I've wanted to, I still haven't had enough time to really get my feet wet here at IAC. I started to read about your big adventure but never got past your first couple of posts. We're just slammed on the homefront... got a huge list of preamps to build, kids, mastering, music, etc... you know the routine. Got a super cool pedal made by Damage Control, called the Glass Nexas... a super wow fx pedal w/ tubes run right, AND made in the USA!!!!!!!! Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hello. Thanks for giving the new tunes a listen... got lots more cooking over here.
All Love,
Auset

That one's a 1963 Hofner Club 50. It's got an action like a cheese cutter but a real honky rhythm sound played down low. (they set up the pickups and pole pieces in the 63 for humbuckers but only put one coil in!)
There's a blog about it on my "rocky" site - "BJ" . Just click on the page link on my page and go to the blogs there for August last year.

How are you Hugh?? It sounds like you have been real busy lately!!
I just wanted to say that you do not need to listen to my E.P. in progress, that was a big ask!!. In the short time I have been here, I have learned that music is such a personal thing, just like the clothes we wear, that all I have to do is keep my music honest (I have to like them first!!) and produce them to the best of my ability and technical affordability. Some may like it some will not, and we can't change that!!
Keep well Hugh

What do you mean? All your songs are hits! Happy new year to you too. It's going to be a ridiculous year - the year of nonsense. The figure eight. Tail is head, head is tail. It's a nicely shaped year. I thought the number seven was a bit crooked. The Liberal govt has been dethroned in Aus. Everybody seems a little bit happier. It's a good January with high humidity and higher expectations. I haven't felt this positive since... well, ever! Sending you creative vibes and good luck, lot's of it.

Thanks for the tip on the group from Essex - they're really good and I'll check out some more of their stuff. Funny reading you're bit about putting music in the backseat stocking yer studio....been going thru a similar bit uploading stuff onto my Cubase (better sounding drums, cool vst-instruments for a bit of colour and the like, too hard to find the real $tuff in Italy) and it can get pretty time consuming. Thanks for the comment Hugh.
I can take no credit for the drum sound, this was courtesy of the producer Winston who hung 1 mike over the drums. It was the first time he tried it and he was thrilled with how it came out.

Hi Hugh, thanks for the ben venuto welcome man and the nice words re: my stuff. Yeah, just jumped aboard a few days ago and I'm blown away with the cool factor here....like finding that type of club you thought didn't exist any more. I'd heard yer version of "The Word" and loved it....now I wanna go and here some your originals. Isn't that wild that Townsend is here?? I mean...the man is on an Indie site. Look forward to staying in touch and I'll buzz ya when I hear your songs; know I'm going to dig. Cheers! Carl

Yea but, has he played any cool places? ha ha. O.K. so he's been to mecca. I once played at the Lake Forrest Bowl on a thursday night. Mott the Hoople, I think once said, "from the liverpool docks to the Lake Forrest Bowl". Hey thanks H.H. I'm working on something, if it does'nt pan out I'll take you up on that my friend.

Hugh-
That 1934 Gibson was my grandfathers. I still have the original reciept it was bought with!! The wood has gotten a hardness over the years that the ring and resonation is unbelievable! The Carvin I'm getting made is something the wifey is getting me.
Dude! You've inspired me to do a (licensed) cover. An old Steely Dan tune.
Gimme a few days, maybe I'll use the 34................. Later, D.

everything I've heard coming out of Dirt Floor has been superb...including his own compositions (outstanding). I forget now where I read you had paid a visit, but I didn't have a time reference. Anyway, I understand your circumstance. I mentioned your post to the fellas last night and the thought of a road trip proved very entertaining. If you can think of a favorite haunt of yours as a possible venue, maybe we can line something up? I'd love to try one of those famous Philly cheese steak sandwiches (grinder, sub, hoagy??) and find out firsthand what all the fuss is about.

Hi Hugh,
Thanks for stopping by for a listen. Yes, thanks, the recording session was a blast. We got "Oh Oh Oh", "Going Away" and "I Didn't Know" put to bed. I'm really proud of the effort.
I didn't know you got the Best Male Vocal award at IAC! Very impressive. Has that helped getting your tunes picked up or sales or anything?
I see you've got the War Child link on your site. I'm on that album too (right next to AlphaStates (!), one of my all time fav bands on IAC or anywhere for that matter). I forget (if I ever knew) how to post the image and link on my page. Can you advise me on this? Many thanks, keep on rockin' in the free world....

"Life ain't fair" ....is a thumping good song with a bouncing bass and snatches of well carved guitar licks that almost take over as alternative vocals. The real vocal is melodic, soft, warm and has a natural upbeat lift that goes against the theme of the song [loss] in an interesting twist
