Zeeza
The Pontiac Quebec Song
I have been waiting for Zeeza to re-upload this great song to her Artists Page. This morning when I checked into IMP, there it was parked in the New Songs list just a-waitin' for me. I got the fireplace fired up and glowin' now and myself stretched out in the big-easy watchin' out the window at the snow just a-whistlin' and a-blowin' 'round the corners of the old cabin and listening to Zeeza feeling the Luskville mountains calling her up on Highway 148 where she's been tryin' to make a living 'out of California dreams'. Zeeza paints a string of wistful pictures on the canvas of this beautiful song then spins them into words and verses in a metaphoric story-telling way while accompanying herself every now and then with her soulful Quebecois Countrified vocals and her acoustic guitar picking out a poignant melody in the background. Listening to this soulful troubadour, you get the feeling that right here she is content with herself and her place in the world livin' on liquid love 'ridin' with whiskey dreams in a rusty black Cadillac' 'kickin' high-fives for peace in a Pontiac'. What more could you possibly want from a singer-songwriter. The imagery is contagious in this beautiful song. Welcome to Legendary Music, Zeeza. I sure do miss old Rascal though. He and I wrote a lot of songs together. added to station 2/4/2017 6:53:51 PM

Kansas
Being MIA from the review scene here for several months while attending to other projects and responsibilities, I am now playing a little catch up. Having seen the post by Sheli Aarden-Monacchio in the Shout box here on my Legendary Music station, then checking out her page, it took but a few scant seconds of listening to "Kansas" until I was hooked by this great song. An uplifting, spirited and ringing melody sets the pace for Sheli’s engaging vocals and great lyrics as the song moves into rock mode bolstered by a blazing blistering guitar solo followed by Sheli in a top down, hit the road, pedal to the metal hell-bent for leather groove – a hypnotic, mesmerizing, driving and smoking gun tune. Welcome to Legendary Music, Sheli. added to station 11/7/2016 7:55:35 PM

THE MIGHTY RIVERS PROJECT
Dreams Of A Boy - Jimmy Howen
It is my pleasure to add this great song by Jimmy Howen – one of the songs on The Mighty Rivers Project album, a great album featuring Jimmy and a number of his gifted and talented musician friends. Stevens Point Wisconsin is so lucky to have Jimmy and his friends in its midst. With the backing of one dynamite band, Jimmy sings "Dreams Of A Boy" with every ounce of heart and soul of that great mid-western country voice of his that's got Grand Ol' Opry written all over it. I'd be surprised if it doesn't have Golden Kayak written on it. I tell ya, folks, it's hard for this old cowboy not to just put this song on auto replay, go throw a log on the fire, pick up my old 12-string and play along like we were all on that Grand Ol' Opry stage – I'd try to keep in tune Jimmy, really I would, honest, promise! Well, it's nice to dream. Lord, I just love the way Jimmy takes it up a notch and brings this awesome tune and living his dreams of life in a big truck home with a hearty "Whew!" I know that feeling! "Dreams Of A Boy" - what a great song! You have a permanent place here Jimmy on Legendary Music. added to station 1/2/2017 5:15:35 AM

Castles
Having just finished writing my 2-book love story, fiction circa 1959, and recording 2 CD albums this year, I find myself with some free time to reactivate my Legendary Music station and to begin adding a song or two here and there along the way between other responsibilities. "Castles" is one of those pieces of music that moves one into a peaceful and beautiful dimension – dream-like almost, far away from life's cares and concerns, painting wistful, searching pictures of love, hope, dreams … and dare I say here, memories. Written by Roy and his brother Raymond who it is easy to tell listening to the song Roy continues to feel his presence. Roy brings his mastery of the acoustic guitar into the realm of Spanish-influenced and often Flamenco style artist, Ottmar Liebert, whose music is among the finest that I have enjoyed for years. Thank you Roy for this haunting and touching gem now added to my Legendary Music library. added to station 11/5/2016 5:13:24 PM

Where The Mighty Rivers Meet
Listening to James Stanley Howen and the Mighty Rivers Band telling me this tragic love story set in ancient Indian lore reminds me of the beauty, peace and wonder of great storytelling and songwriting. Sitting here in front of a cozy fireplace on a cold winter night with my old Navajo blanket wrapped around my shoulders, I kept watching that big old moon as it drifted slowly through the night sky outside my window with the sound of that melancholy flute painting an enchanting picture and haunting vision of "Dances With Wolves" in my mind. Jimmy's warm and wonderfully peaceful voice, almost whispering at times like the restless spirits of the two legendary lovers held me spellbound and wanting to learn more about this warrior and his maiden. The lyrics are so wonderfully crafted and delivered so well that I could almost hear and taste the smell of logs crackling and burning in that campfire and the rippling waters spilling into each other right "Where The Mighty Rivers Meet". You are the consummate storyteller and troubadour Jimmy, and with that unmistakable golden voice of yours – ever so gentle and engagingly romantic here, combined with this beautiful music performed by gifted musicians giving the song authenticity to the ancient culture that it portrays, well, the effect and result on and for this old cowboy was entrancing and enchanting. Well-done Jimmy!! No wonder it hit #2 on the Country Chart here the first time you added it ... thanks for adding it back to your page again ... and Congratulations again!! added to station 5/5/2015 10:28:12 PM

I Lost, You Win
Here I am in what seems like not that much of an unusual "Johnny-Come-Lately" position for me to find myself in these days given as far behind as my other endeavors and responsibilities have pushed my available time to manage Legendary Music. What a treat it was though to wander into Aoede's world of music and find this gem of a song that has already reached the worldwide skies on the wings of American Airlines in-flight programming no less, establishing a large fan following en route to a string of other successes including international broadcasts, streaming radio, compilation CD's and Podcasts. Aoede, aka Lisa Sniderman, is a much lauded modern day muse of song who has been the recipient of many well-deserved honors, all surely more than worthy credentials for Legendary Music status in anyone's books. But don't take my word for it ... visit Aoede's artist page and see, read and listen for yourself. There's more than enough there to warrant ample appreciation and respect for the talent of this accomplished muse. added to station 11/1/2011 1:53:37 AM

Okay folks, I'm gonna cut right to the chase here as quick as Minipop themselves. Who says there's no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow? All you really have to do is just follow the right kind of a rainbow. I just did, and have a listen to the pot of golden music I found to bring back here to the cabin tonight!! I've got "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt 1" washing and drifting dreamily all over the walls here with vocals as lush and smooth as any I've ever heard and music that flows like honey from a comb, not to mention the awesome keyboard arrangement driving this great song all the way home. Minipop says this is "a great haunting song" (written by The Flaming Lips) that they "had to cover". I say this is a great haunting song covered by amazing and talented indie artists that should be on everyone's playlist bar none!! The Lemmings
Rain
Time and time again I find that synchronicity comes along and unexpectedly connects me to some part of my history, my past. It's almost as if it has been written into a musical score for my life. Well, I guess things are written in the Big Book. We just never seem to give it much, if any thought until it bangs the drum. Tonight was such an occasion when I finally scheduled some time to come and have a listen to The Lemmings and found that it would take me unexpectedly on a musical and synchronous path half way around the world to South Africa where The Lemmings call home. They had left a message such a long time ago here at my station to come and have a listen that I'm sure they also long ago gave up on hearing from me. Well, I'm a living example of never say never. In any event, you can read the message that they left in my Shout box, but I can save you some time. It read: "Every word a picture, every song a journey." They also said I would love The Lemmings. Well, let me tell you, that is an understatement. From song to song on their page the music melted like butter and flowed like honey through all of my senses ... soft, sweet, gentle and warm ... beautiful in every sense of the word. And those vocals by Abri van Straten - sultry, seductive, and entrancing, and heaven help me Abri, I had to stop closing my eyes and seeing Chris Rea here, but I hope you take that as a compliment because it really is, and that is not taking anything away from your amazing talent. Speaking of talent, there is no shortage here with Warren, Ludwig and Brian combining with Abri making awesome beautiful music. The songwriting in these lyrics takes my breath away, lifts me up and moves me to that perfect land of Lemuria that The Lemmings describe on their MySpace web site. "Rain" - the song and the video is absolutely beautiful ... yes, every word a picture, and yes, the song was a journey ... Legendary in my mind. added to station 9/25/2008 5:52:24 AM

"Junkies Lament (A Song For David)" ... 'Such a beautiful song, such a love, and such a loss, and such a question too, is life for some or all of us just a coin toss' – words to a song not yet quite written by yours truly, yet somehow they seem to reflect a sense of understanding for the reason behind such a touching and poignant ode to life as this song by John – a song that only a heart can tell, its words stretching into eternity, timeless and endless like the void left in the wake of grief and sorrow and the painful shadow of lost hopes and dreams ... thank you John and much respect for sharing this in such a beautiful way. added to station 1/30/2011 5:06:40 AM

COUNTRY IN HER JEANS
What a beautiful morning ... me an old Rascal are sitting out here on the front porch of the cabin mutually contemplating life and breathing in this cool clean September air. I'm on my second cup of fresh brewed mountain coffee and Rascal here is on his second nap curled up at my feet. The sun's beating down on us both. I've been waiting for a morning just like this to kick back and have a real good listen to the ever humble and greatly talented Bruce Posey doing "Country In Her Jeans". Good lordy man, I can't begin to tell you just how much I love this tune by you and your late friend Terry McMillan ... it's got Nashville and Country coast to coast written all over it and busting out of the seams on all those girl's jeans. For sure Bruce, she's one smokin' tune ... the kind that brings the boys out in pickup trucks on warm sunny days cruising towns and watching those gals in tank tops and hard pressed jeans - oh yeah, don't they just make for a guy's wildest dreams!! I can tell that you both clearly had a bunch of fun doing this song ... and I get a bunch of fun out of listening to it. Those lyrics my friend are bang on, not to mention your great country voice Bruce - awesome buddy, awesome !! And how about those toe-tapping guitar licks ... hmmmm yes !! Kept my feet keeping time from beginning to end and long after I'd played it for I forget now just how many times. Hearty congratulations Bruce on the song being an IAC Pick on the Country Chart and # 12 on the IAC Underground 40. Melody
Big fluffy marshmellow snowflakes falling from the sky greeted me when I woke up this morning and looked out of the window here in the old cabin. Visions of spring only a few weeks away drifted hopefully through my mind. I had one of those 'isn't it wonderful just to be alive' feelings. I took a deep breath and exhaled loudly puffing out my cheeks. A tingling sensation sprinkled up and down the back of my neck and across my shoulders. "Ahh yes", I reminded myself now as that invigorating sensation filled me with a renewed sense of life and hope, "today is the day I promised myself that I would wander over to Taylor Mill's page and treat myself to this legendary touring artist and performer's music". And oh boy, let me tell you what a treat it is, was, and still is for that matter as I'm listening to this exquisitely polished, professional and disciplined singer strut her stuff. Recording and touring the world with legendary Brian Wilson and his band, and working with the greatly talented Scott Bennett and equally accomplished drummer, and husband, Todd Sucherman, makes everything this gifted song-stress touches la crème de la crème of song and music – charming, engaging, alluring, emotional, poignant and sublime. Oh, and yes – Legendary!! Awesome and gorgeous vocals, wonderful lyrics, exceptional music, and not the least surprising – consummate production and arrangement!! Top Of The Sun
It's funny in a beautiful kind of way how sometimes just the right song can send the mind spinning and whirling back through space and time to a place that you once shared with another very special person - a place that you've longed to return to and to taste the sweetness of once again. It happened here to me, tonight. I was just about ready to turn the porch light out here at the old cabin and pack it in for the night when I decided no, I've been AWOL at Legendary Music for longer than I should have been and there's a few artists here at IAC who have asked me to stop in and have a listen to their music. Well folks, right from the first few bars of Carlo's intro on that beautifully soft acoustic guitar of his, the sweet fragrance of jasmine drifted through my memory as strains of Seals and Croft's "Summer Breeze" echoed through my soul reminding me of summer nights spent years ago in the arms of ecstasy. I was almost ready for Deni to come in and take me all the way with her vocals. I was not ready though for the way she did so completely, lifting me up and laying me down again ever so beautifully and totally with some of the most captivating vocals I've heard in a long time - soft, romantic, caressing and engaging at first, and then powerful and strong just ahead of Carlo scorching out one awesome guitar solo. And then ever so gently, like the widening and slowly disappearing ripples on the surface of a glass lake, the music trailed off, fading into the darkness and stillness of the night. I wanted to stay sitting on the porch here at the cabin until morning, waiting for the "Top Of The Sun" to appear once again ... beautiful lyrics, matching production and arrangement, Carlo's virtuoso guitar playing and Denise's sultry, seductive vocals - nothing missing here, nope - a sure ticket to Legendary Music. pilgrim's lament
I remember going to hear Ian and Sylvia Tyson (Canadian Country legends) in concert when I was going to university here a hundred or so years ago now and thinking to myself at the time, lordy how I'd love to be able to play guitar and sing as good as Ian with a girl like Sylvia with a voice as soft and smooth as honey. I dreamed of campfires, cowboy trails and starry nights, and yep, just like Pip and Merry here, who by the way come as close as damn is to swearing IMHO to Ian and Sylvia singing "drinking wine making love and killing time". What a great line that is!! Pip and Merry my wonderful friends, what a pleasure it is to sit here on this warm summer night on the porch of the old cabin - sans my old pal Rascal though who has gone on to the great beyond to wait for me - keeping time with you strumming away on my old guitar and humming this gentle peaceful melody to myself, wiling away my quiet hours, thinking, reminiscing, and just plain loving listening to you take me on this musical journey tripping the light fantastic down memory lane. "Pilgrim's Lament" is another classic by this greatly talented pair of troubadour minstrels from the U.K., wistfully filled with the feeling of warm prairie winds, tumbleweed, wagon trains, Rocky Mountain dreams and purple golden desert sunsets ... simply beautiful. Drivin the Dixie
This is just what I needed tonight - yep a little "Spice" in my life. And yep again - pun intended absolutely!! Well, the "Last Three Standing" as this central Illinois trio-mio aptly call themselves here, sure as shootin' started me up and rolled me back a year or two with this cruisin' Route 66 tune, reminding me of what it was like putting the top and the windows down, taking a hold of the "necker knob" - y'all remember those things don't you that we used to be allowed to have on the steering wheel? - and go spinnin' out of the White Rose gas station onto the highway headed for the Drive-In movie or the A&W or more than likely both with my arm around my girl!! It's been a long, long time since I've had that kind of fun and it's a treat to sit back, punch in a song like "Drivin the Dixie" on my Legendary Music jukebox and go reminiscin' a while and enjoying the ride as these good ol' guitar pickers take me on a trip down musical Memory Lane. Now I know you guys thought maybe I might like to have listen to your "Midnight Sounds" and I did, and I liked that a lot too. So what I'm saying here is that you got my attention and I've got a few more stations too, so I'll likely be back and where we go from there only time will tell. Anyway folks, this is real Shake 'n Burger music - Poodle skirts, ducktails, hotrods, convertibles and girls, jivin', jumpin' and doing The Stroll at the high school hop. Well, you know I've had an appreciative and respectful ear for you and your songs and music ever since hearing you when we were both picked up and being played by Jerry and Sherry at MCTMG Radio in Nashville a year or two back. Remember those fine folks Eric and all they did to promote Indie Country artists just like you and I and many others like us? I have to tell you Eric, it's hard to pick just one of your songs because they're all so gol-dang great. Oh, and before I forget, thank you for being so patient waiting for me to get around to see you - I never seem to get anywhere close to the top of my "to do" list - I no sooner take one thing off my plate when another finds it's way on. Well, this is one great song Eric, one that I can play over and over and over and never tire of listening to. Great lyrics, great music, production and arrangement, and yes your great vocals - just a little Country with a little Cajun flavor here plus it's got your own personal stamp and touch reflecting things changing in the life of your son. It doesn't get much more Country than this folks. If old Rascal'd still been here, him and I could have done a little toe-stepping on the porch at the cabin tonight - me two-footin' and him four-footin' (or something like that), but just like Eric sings here, the times and things are "Always Changing" ... c'est la vie. Anyway, I'm real glad I made it over to your page tonight Eric and brought you and this great song back to Legendary Music. Welcome!! added to station 9/11/2009 1:53:02 AM

Hello
Fusion: "fu-sion \ a merging of diverse elements into a unified whole" ... hmmm, okay then, how about Cosmic: "cos-mic \ characterized by greatness especially in extent, intensity". Well, I just thought I would confirm those two words with my Funk & Wagnalls, and no surprise at all to me and just as I thought, Susan and Satch and their contemporary musical compadres here have hit the nail dead on the head with the title for this tremendously powerful and moving piece. By the time they all got me to the Steffe Sharpstrings guitar solo I was already sailing high above the clouds amidst this penultimate display of musical cosmic fusion. Susan's gorgeous vocals - yes they are "gorgeous" - are richly and warmly coloured with her haunting harmony vocals. Great lyrics here and awesome production and arrangement, plus one right out-of-this-world blazing fly me to the moon guitar solo. It has been a few months since I have had an opportunity to review more songs and artists for my station. What an immense pleasure it is to finally pick it up again with this dynamic gem by Susan and Satch and company - most definitely a merging of diverse musical elements into a superbly unified whole characterized by greatness and intensity!! FULL TIME
Holy Schmoly Lorens John ... here you are or at least there you were just down the road from me at McMaster University in Hamilton, and I get to bump into you here at IAC Music. Well, thank you for knocking on my door here at Legendary Music. Sorry it's taken me a while to get to your page, but let me tell you my friend, while the wait on my part was due to an ongoing overload of many things on my plate, it has paid off in aces for me listening to the two songs posted on your page. Man, right from the get-go when I clicked on the play button for "Full Time" I was toe-tapping and humming and finding it almost impossible to keep sitting here in my chair. And if I hadn't been typing this little piece about you for Legendary Music, I would've grabbed one of my guitars and been strumming along with you. This is one dynamite song - hot country, great lyrics, great music, awesome vocals, and nothing short of amazing talented musicians - and all from Hamilton you say. I feel like a miner and I've just struck gold here!! Welcome to Legendary Music. added to station 1/29/2009 2:33:51 AM

Blow Him Away - Original Version
Finally found my way around to The Kords, not that they haven't been on my hit list for quite a while – pardon the pun re my first Kords selection for Legendary Music – "Blow Him Away". Love the James Bond '70's feelin' jump start guitar intro that keeps pumping all through the song ... yeah, great vocals, great guitars, great drums, great lyrics/songwriting, some blazin' solo, consummate arrangement and production. What's not to like? I agree, nothin'!! A Disco Punk rocker smokin' from start to finish. Shades and shadows of Monty Norman and John Barry setting the stage for the likes of Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan on the other end of a 007 gun barrel here folks!! Great song ... Over the Rainbow
Finally I have made it here to your page Denise. It is pushing 2:00 a.m. (my time that is) - my usual time for giving artists my complete and undivided attention. As I was reading your "About you", I started listening to "Over The Rainbow" - one of my all-time favorite classics. I had to stop reading and just listen. I kept telling myself that I was not sitting in the orchestra seats at an Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice musical in a Broadway Theater, or even in a quiet little corner in some chic and elegant piano and lounge bar somewhere in Manhattan, although it was hard to believe that I wasn't given the sublime and enthralling music flowing from Peter's talented fingertips on the piano and the absolutely beautiful and spellbinding passion and warmth coming from that gloriously gifted voice of yours Denise - a voice so perfectly gentle, peaceful and hopeful here that I was sure I had been lifted onto that rainbow and taken to a place far, far away where troubles are few and far between, and where dreams do come true. With the greatest respect and admiration of Judy Garland, you have taken this timeless classic to new heights. The neon lights cast a blue-pinkish glow on the snow-covered street and sidewalk outside the window in my mind. I knew it was coming, but still I was hoping closing time would be cancelled for tonight and that you and Peter would keep singing and playing. I wanted to spend the night here with you - well, with you both I mean. I heard the bartender lock the door behind me as I stepped out onto the street. I walked for several blocks under the soft glow of street lights. I stopped and hailed down a taxi. "Where to buddy?" the cabbie asked. "Somewhere over the rainbow," I answered. "Somewhere over the rainbow." added to station 12/12/2008 6:14:45 AM

Wind In The Evergreens
As I sat here listening to John's beautiful song spinning on the player, I wondered if perhaps I could just gather up a basket full of all my best selections for adjectives and superlatives, shuffle them around like a deck of cards and then deal them out line by line here on the page ... I knew no matter how or which way they were dealt, they were all going to come up aces when it came to describing "Wind In The Evergreens". Well, here I am John, finally getting to your page. Life here just seems to get busier and busier with each passing day so it takes me longer and longer to come looking and listening. I pine for the midnight hour to roll around when I most often get to put my feet up here in the old cabin and head on over here looking for a new tune to put on one of my stations. It's one of those nights here, quiet and a little lonely on the inside, mid-winter signs of spring on the outside pulling at the heartstrings of lovers like spring always does, sleeping now under the stillness and darkness of night ... feels a lot like what I'm listening to right here in the quiet of my own silence ... your voice John is so wonderfully gentle and peaceful, wavering and pining its way beautifully through so very poignant and such perfectly crafted lyrics from beginning to end, painting a picture of your elusive lover in so many ways ... and that guitar - what can I say - from intro to outro this is sweet, sweet, sweet like a bluebird in flight, like sunshine at night. What a beautiful picture of love and music you leave the listener with John ... from beginning to end and back again ... aces everywhere ... just like "Wind In The Evergreens"... beautiful. Summer Love
Every summer needs a summer song to remind us of those wonderful, magical, "Tunnel Of Love" hugs and kisses at the County Fair days and other times of young love and romance of times long past - well, long past in my case. It has taken me longer than I had planned to get here to listen to Cherry Creek. Still it is such a wonderful feeling to have the wait pay off by finding another great artist and gem of a song to add to Legendary Music. Your long list of achievements and accomplishments in music and in life Teresa are simply amazing, awesome, impressive, admirable and inspirational. I tip my old cowboy hat to you girl in every respect. Your song rings and sings with all the magic that I remember from so many other great summer love songs that I've enjoyed over many, many years. Great lyrics and a voice that harkens back to the sounds coming out of Sam Phillips' Sun Records in Memphis that I remember playing on the jukebox over and over again three plays at a time for a quarter while having an after movie coke and burger with my girl at the Diner. Your reverb harmonies Teresa give this great tune an irresistible nostalgic flavor. "Summer Love" has got ice cream, soda pop, funnel cakes, candy floss, poodle skirts, Kewpie dolls and Ferris wheels at Coney Island, Crystal Beach and Palisades Park written all over it ... a fun up-beat arrangement with a sweet little guitar lick. I love "Summer Love" ... ah shucks, I always did. Glad to have you here at Legendary Music Teresa. added to station 9/1/2008 12:31:02 AM

The great depression
The last time I wrote a little review about Jive White Boy it was "2031". My, my, how time does slip away ... and it was November too, and I remember I had talked about how my pal, old Rascal, had curled up in his favorite place on his old Navajo blanket waiting for the warm air to spill out on top of him from the fireplace that I had lit here in the cabin. Tonight, almost a year later with the feel of frost in the night air, I'm wrapped up in my autumn memories of old Rascal - all that is left of him with me now since he fought the good fight like the trooper that he was and closed his eyes here on this earth in the dark early hours one morning this past May with me by his side as he quietly, and as peacefully as was possible, slipped away to that magical Rainbow Bridge to wait for me when my time comes. Tonight I'm also wondering about "2031" ... where it went to, and, or if perhaps even "Twenty Thirty-One" might hold some synchronous clairvoyant meaning. Well, so much for my mystical ponderings ... it's back to the present and one of Jive White Boy's new tunes, "The great depression". Once again I find myself entranced by the imagery in these haunting lyrics and enchanted with the melodic ebb and flow of JWB's sweet vocals and harmonies as this talented songsmith carefully paints a mesmerizing picture on a wonderfully arranged and produced musical tapestry. "The great depression" - a great song ... and perhaps a timely addition to Legendary Music ... synchronicity in motion!! Welcome back Jive White Boy! added to station 10/7/2008 4:13:47 AM

PIP and MERRY
OLD BONES AND SILVER
Time, people and places etch memories deep inside of our minds long before we discover they are there, and by then our thoughts and lives are far removed from when they took place. They are like the leaves of autumn that are swept and whisked around our feet in swirling whirlwinds reminding us that once they were the short-lived beauty that if we were lucky and had taken the time, we would have admired and appreciated in their brief time here. They are the dried and crumpled flower petals strewn along our walkways of life and that lay in our gardens of summers past, leaving but faint recognition and recollectiion of the splendor they once displayed for our eyes to behold ... blessings all ... come and gone. Pip and Merry are the inspiration for these thoughts of mine tonight. It has been a while - make that far too long - since I have visited this trailer-traveling gifted and unaffected masters and perfectly matched duo of English country/folk music. I don't know how many times I listened, completely taken and spellbound I might add, to their brilliant "OLD BONES AND SILVER" before I could find the words that I wanted to say. The storytelling here is warm and deep and so very, very poignant and beautiful. Pip's vocals echoing behind me in the cabin as I sit out here on the porch watching a harvest moon drift slowly through the clouds are making me imagine that I'm sitting around an old cowboy campfire down by a lazy river stream listening to Willie Nelson ... and Merry's harmony vocals are so beautiful that I'm sure June Carter-Cash's spirit must have somehow found its way into her soul and into this great song, which means of course that Johnny is likely also somewhere in the shadows. A perfect title, amazing lyrics, heartfelt storytelling, classic country singing and campfire guitar playing, wistful, reflective, melancholy and beautiful ... Legendary Music for sure ... makes me want the night to never end. added to station 9/7/2008 3:55:56 AM

Free As A Dove
I can remember feeling like this one warm and beautifully fragrant night at an ocean side lounge bar overlooking the beach at Waikiki with music just like this filling my heart and caressing my soul. Feeling like this, you ask? Yes, "Free As a Dove" - peaceful, soulful, beguiled and reconciled. Flames wavered and flickered from the tops of torch lanterns casting a romantic glow among the shadows beneath gently swaying palms. As I sat there, rapt by the wonder and beauty of my surroundings and the perfumed fragrances intoxicating my senses, my mind flashed back to earlier times in lounge bars at Playboy Clubs in Los Angeles and Phoenix. So what does that have to do with this wonderfully engaging song by Maria? Everything for me!! This is what makes a song so very special for me - when the artist can whisk me away in my memory to some very special place or time in my life. As soon as this song began, I swear I could even hear the ocean waves lapping gently back and forth on that Waikiki beach, and in my wildly imaginative mind I wondered if perhaps there might have been lovers out there under that star-filled night sky wrapped in each other's arms lost in the endless promise and passion of love. This is candlelight, wine and late night soft music for dreamers and lovers whether they be curled up in each others arms in front of a glowing fireplace on a quiet winter's night, or overlooking city lights and sights, or in some serendipitous hide-away blues bar far away from the helter-skelter of life ... beautiful voice with a range that soars like that dove higher and ever higher above, sweet harmonies, beautiful lyrics, beautiful music, beguiling arrangement, disarming, irresistible and seductive. added to station 10/10/2008 3:01:24 AM

you look familiar
It's been far too long since I've gazed through the multitude of saguaro cacti silhouetting the hills surrounding Tucson, but now I have good reason to hustle my old cowboy butt back down there one of these sunny days and head deep into the local Underground Music scene to get an up close look and listen to some of Tucson's awesome music talent, particularly that which is residing under the creative roofs of Conversation Suicide and Phelgm. In the meantime, I'm going to be playing "you look familiar" on Legendary Music. Right from the get-go, this sha-na-na-na cool tune, flavored with strains, riffs and traces of good old rock 'n roll guaranteed a refreshing serving of alternative-pop-rock and with lyrics and vocals that even an old cowboy could understand, and yes, relate to as well, although my concept of a cafe would be an old western saloon hiding somewhere in the desert close to one of those gorgeous deep purple and golden orange sunsets that take your breath away as they paint smoky trails across the horizon. Other than that I'm definitely in tune and on the same wavelength as this talented and highly energized eclectic gathering of underground musicians. I find it incredible that the suits at all the big labels continue to turn deaf ears to the seismic and sonic revolution happening in every genre of music that is walking the halls here at IAC coming from great artists like Conversation Suicide and thousands of other equally talented and gifted solo artists and bands around the world. The Mulligan Project
Brave The Storm
Funny how one can listen to song after song after song looking and waiting for that one special song to connect with you in some way, any way at all. All so often it depends what our invisible antennae might be seeking on any particular day or night, or perhaps the mood we're in or the situation were facing at any given time. I'm like that when I'm driving along in my car with the radio playing. Song after song can play and not catch my attention, and then all of a sudden that one song comes on and bang - I know immediately that I like it. I must confess that I'm like that when I come here to my station and go on a song-seeking mission. Lately, due to circumstances unrelated to IAC, my available time here has been extremely limited, and the one thing that I refuse to do is to compromise my song searching and selections by adding songs just for the sake of adding songs, so I do greatly appreciate the patience of artists to wait for me to get to their page. Every song here has been special to me in some way and has fit into my personal concept of Legendary Music. Tonight I ventured over to The Mulligan Project Artists Page and began to work my way down through the song selections, reading the bio and the posted reviews as I listened. I was two away from the bottom of the list when it happened. I clicked on "Brave The Storm" and BANG! Within the first ten seconds I was bought and sold. I love the fetching intro here so much and the mellow vocals that flowed oh so easily into the melody were as soft and sweet as any honey could be. This is a song about life and love told with deep feeling and emotion that pulls one from beginning to end, from word to word through these great lyrics right into the two lover's playful words with each other. Great vocals, great lyrics, great production and a beautiful ending - how much better does it get than this? I rest my case. marie
you were
Well Marie, I finally found your page - I had to do a little "Sherlock Holming" in my old cowboy hat, but here I am gal, and let me tell you straight out and up front, you got Soul in your Country Blues. I just loved the mandolin intro here, and the way you followed that sweet mandolin lead walking straight into these ever so poignant and beautiful lyrics written by David Dwortzan, Nashville. Your voice is as Country as Country gets gal. It reminded me of sounds and songs I've heard coming out of those dusty desert saloons deep in cowboy country under those blazing golden and crimson Arizona sunsets. You do justice to the song Marie in true and honest Country style and straight from the heart. We've got a beautiful summer night here, so I'm going to go turn the volume up a little more on my media player and head back out onto my porch here at the cabin, settle into my old cedar Muskoka chair and spend some time looking deep into my soul listening to "you were" a bunch more times before I call it a night. There's some questions in these lyrics that I need to have myself a good heart-to-heart listen to. But before I go do that, I want to tell you Marie to please keep doing what you're doing with your singing ... you have got a God-given talent and gift in that great voice of yours and a lot more listening pleasure in you yet to deliver to the world. VELULA
Velula - Ocaso de un Parpadeo
Those who have ventured here and stayed long enough to have listened though my playlist will know that I am not confined to any particular genre or musical box (no pun intended), although I do quite naturally have my favorites, meaning that my audible palate has been known at times to harmlessly pursue self-gratification. When I do go off the deep end though, I throw the saddle, boots and hat to the wind, and heaven only knows where I might end up for the evening. Well, as in the case of Velula here who were kind enough to introduce themselves to my station, I went to their Artists page and I listened through their selections. To my delight I found myself traipsing back to the old cabin here with a magical, mystical and truly engaging harmonious, and equally pleasingly disharmonious at times, piece of music much reminiscent of the euphony that one would hear at one of those larger than life, stranger than fiction and yet ever so close to reality Cirque du Soleil shows. "Ocaso de un Parpadeo" begins by taking one on a carefree and fanciful kaleidoscopic musical journey that seemingly leads to a somewhat strange and spiritually cloistered world colored with a monastic flowing litany of vocals. IMHO this is definitely a movie quality and appropriate piece of music you have here Velula ... but what do I know. In any event, I would be knocking on director's doors with this one. In the meantime, I'm honored and pleased to welcome you to Legendary Music. added to station 7/27/2008 3:01:32 AM

veenatai
bandish
The pungent aroma of seasoned wood burning in a nearby campfire surrounds me tonight as I sit alone on the front porch of the cabin watching the moon appear and disappear behind waves of dark clouds drifting silently and slowly across the dark August sky. It is the kind of night that always sets my mind to contemplating nature, the planets, the earth, and where we all fit into the greater scheme of things of which we know so little about. Listening to Veenatai's serene and sombre "bandish", I felt that somehow I was being reconnected with my soul and with the earth around me. My mind was sent spiraling back to thoughts of times of long ago here on the North American continent when only the sound of beating native drums might have been heard echoing through the clear night air telling of mystical healings or paying homage to the spirits and gods ... or perhaps it could have been the sounds that one might have heard coming from a camp somewhere deep inside the remote bowels of the Dark Continent piquing the senses of inhabitants of the wild kingdom standing motionless in tall grasses listening for sounds and signs of impending danger. Whatever the thoughts were that ran helter-skelter through my mind, the sounds were peaceful, guileless and romantic as only a true nomadic vagabond can relate to, and I knew that I was in the company here of an accomplished 'artiste' who is understandably proud of her heritage and of her classical musical achievements. Veenatai has most assuredly acquired a 'hukumat' over her music and has attained the proficiency to take the lead in bringing Hindustani classical music to new heights. Rayburn Anthony
Jackson Was Jumpin'
My good friend Jerry Kabat over at WROK Station here on IAC sent me a 'go have a look at this cool cat Rayburn Anthony' kind of note. Well, I've learned to listen to Jerry whenever he points me in the direction of somebody new, particularly when it comes to old time 1950's rock 'n roll or rockabilly music a la Sam Phillips' Sun Records style, or in the case of someone like good old Tennessee boy Rayburn Anthony here who has talked the talk AND walked the walk like I discovered he has done beginning all the way back to my time ... yeah, those same country-rockabilly-rock 'n roll days of the 1950's. I read Rayburn's bio while I was listening to him singing "Jackson Was Jumpin'" and I couldn't help but think that I was sitting right there in Sam Phillips' Sun Records studio watching and listening to Rayburn laying down the tracks for this great rockabilly tune. What a treat it is to come across a musician who was there when it was all happening back in the 50's and who was actually one of the players making it happen ... and now here he comes packin' his guitar and ridin' into IAC in his old red pickup truck. If that isn't classic I don't know diddley squat!! Thank you Jerry for finding Rayburn here ... and thank you Rayburn for bringing your talent, your style and your rockabilly history to IAC for all to enjoy. And thank you for making me feel like sitting down and writing a few more of those good old rockabilly songs myself. Just reading about all of the great musicians and singers that Rayburn has rubbed shoulders with puts a smile from ear to ear on every page in my book of 1950's music nostalgia memories. Jennifer Friedman
Prayin'
Perhaps it was the mellow summery feeling and bayou cruisin' rhythm of this really cool tune that first caught my ear, or maybe it was the simple engaging instrumental intro that told me I was really going to like Prayin' - no pun intended. Then again, it might have been Jennifer's sweet lilting vocals and harmonies that drew me in and kept me listening to all the lyrical and melodious nuances that flow like a crystal clear virgin stream cascading down a mountainside from beginning to end of this excellent song. I had listened to it several times before I realized I was enjoying the music and Jennifer's great guitar work so much so that I had not been paying attention to the lyrics and the story. The time that Jennifer spent studying songwriting techniques with those accomplished national pop and folk artists has paid off handsomely and shines brilliantly here in these lyrics, clearly demonstrating what a truly gifted songwriter she is. The production and mixing here is so very well done too, creating that perfect balance between vocals and instruments and giving each the space they need to rise to their best and maximum potential ... nothing is lost and everything is gained ... a win-win producer/artist dream for sure. Great vocals, great lyrics, great music, great production, great song ... that pretty well sums up my feeling about Prayin'. Thanks for finding me here at Legendary Music Jennifer and welcome. Needles in the Waves
Sometimes, for whatever the reason, the longer we have to wait to be able to do the things that we want to do the better and the sweeter is the result. Such is the case with finding some time in my busy, and getting busier, life to come for a quiet visit tonight to Carrie's page and have a listen to "Needles in the Waves". Where do I begin? How about I start with the great title ... the picture that it paints in the mind is both subtle and perfect for the lyrics and music that follows. And right from the get-go, the hypnotic spellbinding feeling and sound of waves that has been so effectively produced here slish-sloshing incessantly back and forth sets the poignant mood for this great song of yours Carrie. And notwithstanding the sombre message in your lyrics, I'm lulled into closing my eyes as I feel myself rolling and swaying to the endless motion of the sea, surrounded with this magnificently produced and arranged music and your haunting, beautiful vocals Carrie riding every wave, washing every word in your so very well-crafted lyrics onto the shore along with those needles left begging and crying out for some reason, some understanding, and some hope if there is any yet that remains. You have a diamond in this song gal, shining like the sea itself in sparkling moonlight. Only time will tell how many more gems like this you will create girl, but my guess is that this will be hard to top. Still, with your incredible talent rising to new levels with this song Carrie, you won't surprise me if you do. In my book, unquestionably, "Needles in the Waves" is Legendary Music. Saint James Infirmary (Gamblers Blues)
Here I was tonight looking for something to save me from the depths of gloom, compliments of the winter storm currently slamming us with almost two feet of snow since this time last night. It's the worst snowstorm we've had in these parts in years. Old Rascal and I had just come back into the cabin looking for sure like the abominable snowman and pal snowdog. I jump-started the fireplace with a couple of handfuls of dry cedar kindling, stretched out in my Lazy-boy rocker and uncorked my laptop, scanning the screen as it loaded up the IAC page. Rascal had already curled up on his old Navajo blanket in front of the hearth and was dozing dreamily as he is most apt to do. My immediate mission was to explore and sample the music of Joerg Sommermeyer, aka JS. You know the drill - click click double click click click, and then you listen, waiting for the song to begin. As the funky bluesy "Twin Peaksy" intro to JS's cover of "Saint James Infirmary - Gambler's Blues" poured into my ears, my eyes lit up, honing my senses and perking me to attention. My thoughts of the winter storm blustering outside my window instantly evaporated. Saved by a song I said to myself. No sh*t Sherlock! No sooner had my musical mind computed and bought into the perfect enchantment of this haunting melodic intro when JS brought down the hammer so to speak - actually the "axe"(guitar) in this case, closing the sale for me with his equally, and perhaps even more so, amazingly bang on and uniquely distant sounding vocals giving this familiar old song a wonderful and refreshing new life. No question about it - I was hooked. From beginning to end, JS brings this traditional lyrical masterpiece to story-book life, telling it in a spellbinding anecdotal fashion accented by an endless supply of awesome and riveting riffs. Your years of performing shine brilliantly throughout this tune JS. You now have a new fan - perhaps two if we can count Rascal. I'm truly honoured to welcome you to Legendary Music. added to station 3/9/2008 3:56:49 AM

Dream in Color
Congratulations Katie on your song "Angels" going # 1 - its a great song, but I am fully taken with "Dream In Color" - this song talks to me in that very special way that only happens when a great voice such as yours plays beautifully off an elegantly performed piano solo based melody and tells me a story about life. This is a beautiful song Katie, with lyrics that ring rich with love and wisdom and that are filled with promise and hope, painting everyone's dream in color. This song let's me "Dream In Color" Katie - no, it makes me "Dream In Color" - and it takes me away for a few moments from the trials and tribulations that I might have had or felt during the day ... and you lead the way so well Katie, so perfectly with your awesome voice blending with every played piano note from beginning to end. This is a great song, so very well done Katie !! I'm honored to add "Dream In Color" and to have your special talent represented here on Legendary Music. added to station 5/18/2007 6:45:38 AM

Cowboyology
Every once in a while an old worn-out long ago cliche seems to fit the bill the best, so to begin: Variety Is The Spice Of Life. Why should it be any different with Legendary Music! Right! Glad you agree Rascal, my and man's best friend. Now about "Cowboyology", not an unfamiliar topic to me ... yeehaw, an' git along little doggie!! This starts off like a good ol' fashioned barn dance on a Saturday night. Grab your pardner - just be careful where you're doin' the grabbin', swing her round and round .. makes me feel like hoppin' in my pick up, headin' on into town, swingin' them saloon doors wide open, strollin' on up to the bar, lay down some shiny silver dollars an' sayin', "Set me up a double Jack Daniels bartend, an' one fer the purdy lady standin' over there by the py-anno flashin' her big ol' eyes at me." These lyrics run the gamut of everything cowboy from the horse's mouth to the horse's .... well, you get the picture. Even right down to Mike's authentic western cowboy voice with just a trace of a hint of the legendary "Singing Cowboy" himself. An' I just betcha that py-anno player's wearin' a red and black striped shirt with silver spring arm bands an' a vest with flashy embroidered horseshoes on the front pockets too. Now you get the idea why I like this tune. Why there's even a touch of cousin Goober and Gomer Pyle tossed in to give it that down home country cookin' flavour, not to mention the great musicianship goin' on all through the tune. For just a minute here I thought I was back in the Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek Arizona. Had a damn good time or three there more than once a year or two back with some good ol' boys - bikers an' cowboys they were, and a Harley girl or two. But that's another story for another time. Hang up your spurs for a bit Mike ... a big ol' cowboy welcome to Legendary Music. added to station 12/15/2007 4:49:58 AM

I Think of You
I hardly had time to get settled into my favourite rocker tonight in front of the fireplace and give old Rascal laying here at my feet a couple of little pats on his head before a crash of distant thunder rippled and echoed off into the distance followed by a menagerie of children and a string of gypsies, musicians and singers swirling and dancing their way along a narrow street in some Lilliputian dreamland, their colourful costumes shining and gleaming under streaming rays of new sunshine. What a beautiful intro Susan!! Stunning and captivating!! It swept me up instantly, whirling me far away into a spellbinding world behind the flames dancing fancifully in front of my eyes through the burning cedar logs. The sound of spiritually enchanting tribal drums streamed over the hills and faraway sand dunes. I couldn't help but think this is what Cirque du Soleil would be if it were a song - magical, mystical, mysterious and entrancing ... a perfect picture of where I'd love to be, who I'd love to see, and what I'd love to do when I got there. Your beautiful voice Susan, ebbing and flowing, leading, then following, then leading again and harmonizing ... spreading your amazing talent across the musical landscape with your every breath - lifting and carrying hopes, dreams and memories to the heavens where all hearts will one day meet. What a gift!! In your hands your 12-string guitars turn into a glorious acoustic orchestra, and your beautifully haunting voice sings like a choir of angels. Heartfelt lyrics surrounded by Hilaire Penda's magical bass blowing the winds of Africa all through the piece. Pulsating drumming, Irish whistles, amazing programming and awesome arrangement. "I Think Of You" truly touches the sky ... touches the heavens. Excellent and so very well performed. Congratulations Susan to you and your fellow musicians. Cast Off
Strange how one's feelings often have a deja vu aura about them isn't it. That's what happened to me this chilly dark November night as I found myself being drawn to your page Gina to find this song that I had listened to some time ago. I had spent an hour or so earlier today in a little white country church taking down an old light fixture that my late father had repaired many years ago. The church closed some time ago and its future looks dim to say the least. The elders offered the fixture to me as a token of their appreciation for my father's work repairing it, as well as for many other selfless jobs that he did there over the years. In the emptiness of the sanctuary, I found myself talking to my dad. I hope he was listening wherever he is. I just knew Gina that your song would fill me with so much wonderful love for what I don't have any longer. I feel it in these beautiful and treasured lyrics here that you have written for your own father and in your golden voice sailing out on that endless sea of love for him in your heart - a reflection I'm sure of the sea that he so loved and lived for. I hear it in the gentle loving ringing sounds from your guitar, and I see it in that oh so perfect picture in the player for the song here .. 'Red sky at night, sailor's delight' .. how fitting. I remember my father holding my hand as he was taking his last few breaths here on earth moments before he "Cast Off" on his journey into eternity, and I thank you deeply Gina for this extra special few moments of love filling my heart with your beautiful song. Old Rascal is curled up in front of the fireplace, and the flames from the logs are painting wonderful pictures of memories in my mind. Gypsy Annie
Who says a leopard never changes its spots!! In the world of music, everything is possible!! I've just tossed my cowboy hat high into the air and grabbed my sombrero and old maracas that have been hanging for ages on the back of the door. I've just been swept away, south of the border down Mexico way into this musical fiesta fantasy. The streets are teeming with joyous partiers clapping and dancing to and fro following dozens of Spanish horn players and colorful Flamenco guitarists. Flags and multi-colored ribbons are flying everywhere. This is The Brass Ring making love to The Tijuana Brass and the Gypsy Kings, and Coney Island and Circus Circus dressed and wrapped up as Disneyland, all at the same time!! What a day!! Even the puffy white clouds look for all the world like little mountains of Whipped Cream. What a delight!! Old Rascal thinks I've just lost my mind, but he's running around in circles here in the cabin and seems to be enjoyng this just as much as I am. The imagery in these lyrics is just as amazing and "sweet" as the memories portrayed here of being "found" by the mysteriously enchanting Gypsy Annie. Great lead and wonderfully effective background vocals, awesome musicianship and beautiful arrangement. What else can I say!! Steve, I wandered all up and down your playlist here several times, listening and looking inside my mind for the song that I wanted to transport to Legendary Music, and there was just no way I was going to leave without taking "Gypsy Annie" home with me. Folks, if you don't get lifted up and carried away with this great song, you might just have a problem. As for me, my day is now complete. The Wonderer
Surprise surprise .. there really is a calm after the storm. Or do I have that bass-ackwards? Hmmm .. yes, I think the correct saying is "the calm before the storm". Well, whatever! We had one of those too!! In any event, after the 36-hour winter storm that just rolled through here leaving a foot and a half of snow in its wake, today's brilliant sunshine and sparkling sapphire blue sky was a sight for sore eyes and relief for my aching back from shoveling. Shortly after getting ourselves cozied up in front of the blazing fireplace tonight, it was no wonder that Rascal and I were soon drifting swiftly into dreamland, although before I had made myself that comfortable I had come to Steve April's page and clicked "Stream All". As the first song, "Fledglin Bird", began to play, I remember thinking .. very nice song about spring Steve .. yeah, very nice song. I could feel my head though nodding uncontrollably as I slipped in and out of consciousness. In that cannibis-like induced state I could have swore that I saw the Grateful Dead's Sugar Magnolia Tour Bus loaded with a menagerie of tie-dyed characters driving through my mind followed by an eclectic electric unplugged ensemble of strolling troubadours dancing and drinking at will. The Parade Master was slicing and cutting up some mean distortion guitar licks and riffs. Wish I could play like that I remember thinking. The band was playing what could easily have been the Woodstock National Anthem. Was I dreaming or tripping I wondered. The closest thing to Dylan that I've heard in a long time was scattering a potpourri of words hither thither all around that seemed to fall perfectly into place on lines that sounded like the closest thing to amazing lyrics that I've heard in a long time. I drifted back to sleep with the parade disappearing over the horizon and the perfect ending playing softly and incessantly in my mind. A perfect song too for Legendary Music I remember thinking ... yeah, a perfect song ... added to station 3/10/2008 5:06:53 AM

Candy Kisses
Right from the opening melody Michael, I was hooked on this beautiful summer of love song .. there's just something about some songs that make me feel .. how shall I say .. well, like just everything is so beautiful .. so right .. and so perfect now that summer is here ... a song that instantly makes me think about that one oh so very special person in my life who means so much to me, who I don't think I could live without ... and who I'd love to spend the summer day and night with at some place like maybe Coney Island .. ride the Ferris Wheel .. go through The Tunnel of Love .. and share Cotton Candy and Candy Apples with. Crazy isn't it, but I've felt that way for years about many songs that have come out it seems just at that perfect moment every summer for lovers in love - Jerry Wallace with "Primrose Lane" many years ago did that to me. Your lyrics and warm, soft, romantic voice make me feel all of those things Michael .. makes me just want to put my ragtop down, get my girl beside me, put my arm around her, hold her tight and feel the warm summer sun brushing against our faces and the wind in our hair .. and taste her sweet little Candy Kisses - the kind that make me think about that really quaint and quiet out-of-the-way little Drive-In Motel a little farther down the road where she would make all my dreams and "wishes come true" . This is a wonderful song Michael .. a great song .. a song that makes life feel so perfect, so wonderful and so beautiful .. and it feels just perfect having "Candy Kisses" here on Legendary Music. Sometimes
Just when I thought about coming out of hibernation up here in the Great White North, the weather report lays another winter storm warning on us to welcome spring with. Well, me and old Rascal got the cure for that news! Yeah, we just threw the tail end of our winter wood supply into the fireplace, shut the shutters, turned on our surround sound system here in the cabin and fed ourselves a fine feast of "Marcus Plattius Rock-ish Pop-ish Lou-Reed-ish Style Blues". Hey Marc, I want you to know I said that with the greatest respect and admiration my friend .. like your tune here has got a real "Emperor" feel to it. How's that you say? Good question!! Some times my own words baffle me too, but when I get these feelings about a song and the artist, the words just begin to roll out of my head .. just like what happens when I get to writing songs .. and I have to tell you the feeling here is AWESOME!! And you look the part too man in your slideshow - you with the girls. I'm talking Classic here Marc .. Powerful, In Charge, Strong .. like an Emperor!! See what I mean? They all fit here .. the music, the arrangement, and your gutsy vocals - hot enough to coax me into maybe holding a 60's style Toga Party. Co-ed of course!! I could easily get warmed up too, listening to this great song, and get talked into something like a bed-in at a Hefner-like L.A. mansion. Of course co-ed!! Yeah, "Sometimes good people do bad things" .. right? But hey, show me a man who is perfect and I'll show you God! Non? Si. And lordy, lordy, these lyrics .. how many more like this do you have behind your walls Marc? Excelente!! This is the kind of song that shoots a beam straight into my radar screen sending all my buttons and lights spinning and flashing. And I love that axe solo too ... just a smokin' and cuttin' a path clean across the fret board, playin' insy-outsy with your lead vocals and those great harmonies. Remember (Demo)
This really has to be my lucky day. Thank you Mother Nature for confining me to the cabin, the fireplace and to some special time with old Rascal. The two of us are finding some truly delightful new songs to add to Legendary Music. Ahhhh yes ... these are days that I know I will remember in years to come. And coincidentally again, this song by The Nimblemen is aptly titled "Remember" .. and it is more and ample proof that the Indie World is alive and well and filled with so many very talented and gifted musicians. This is another great song ... reminiscent of sunny days, river streams, memories and daydreams. Mike Kosturko's lyrics and beautifully soft and compelling vocals, and the music of his band Leider, ever so sweetly and wonderfully echoes and reflects the portrayal of the song on The Nimblemen's Artists Page ... times of complete and carefree innocence when every day was an adventure waiting to be explored and then dreamed about later under moonlit starry nights. I remember them oh so very well, and how I do love a song that returns to me those days and times in my life. How did they ever slip away? Great lyrics, great music and great vocals ... and another great and beautiful song for Legendary Music. We need more songs like this in our life. Welcome to you Mike and The Nimblemen ... Just One More Time
The chills are running up and down my back, the nape of my neck and all along my arms as I keep listening to this incredible adaptation of the beautiful Celtic sounds and music to "Danny Boy", one of my all-time favourite pieces of music and songs. The first time I listened to "Just One More Time" I just closed my eyes and let the memories of so many precious moments and times in my own life long past now roll through my mind - faces and smiles not seen in years reminded me of friends and loved ones, and voices and sounds not heard in just as many years echoed through every bone in my body. Joe Rock's, rich, gravelly and heartfelt vocals surely make this one of those never-to-soon-be-forgotten heart-aching, tear-jerker ballads to the memory of cherished loved ones who have since departed this life - some far too soon before their time as the saying goes. But the time is not ours to choose. What a poignant and heart-warming tribute this is to the memory of DirgeK. For me, this beautiful song helps to take away the feeling of emptiness in the cabin tonight. I think old Rascal is going to get an extra hug or two before I go say my prayers. Feel Me
This may come as a bit of a surprise to some, but this old cowboy is taking off his spurs and turning up his surround speakers for a night of high speed vibratin' PopiKoKin' underground overhead kick the hinges off the effin cabin door empee 3 sound bytes. Yeehaw!!! Whoa there now cowboy!!! Yeah ... I've been hankering for a cool hot L.A. styled night scene for a while ... an' I'm gonna do it without the booze and the drugs too. But I'm sure as hell's not givin' up the sex!! Nosiree bub ... not any time soon!!! Besides, if I understand PopiKoK's bio correctly "Feel Me" is essential to ... well ... let's just say we won't go there here. Maybe I'm just a natural born optimist, but I think even at my age I still get the picture. Still, it was high time I got around to adding some ... how does PopiKoK say it ... oh yeah, "sex driven beats pounding change the beat of your heart" electronic hypnotizing heavy dance musique. An all this just goes to prove that you CAN teach an old cowboy new tricks. One of the things though, and there are many here in "Feel Me" that I like ...(that too) ... is that compared to a lot of electronified ear bending noise that some other bands are known to call music that I occasionally hear, or rather try not to hear, is that you can actually hear and understand the lyrics in "Feel Me". Now that sells me on a song and artist(s) just about as quick as the music. Oh, did I mention the vocals here? Cool cool cool way cool far out cool and soooo cool they're hot hot hot. And how about those wrap around female vocals ... hmm-mmmm, she gives "Feel Me" the perfect touch ... no pun intended. I like it!!! THE JACK PADDLE COVER BAND
HEY HO
I'm sure old Rascal wondered just what the Sam Hell got into me tonight. Moments earlier I had appeared calm, collected, sane and relaxed tossing a couple of fresh logs into the fireplace, refueling our senses with that embracing and welcoming aroma of smoky wood heat on a chilly winter's night. Intoxicated and seduced by the warmth and comfort spilling from the hearth, Rascal had collapsed into a heap on his crumpled old blanket, and in a flash drifted quickly into doggie la-la land. Then I went and lowered the boom so to speak on his pooch dreams with The Jack Paddle Cover Band's "HEY HO" introduction to Legendary Music. Legendary Music? "HEY HO"? you ask surprised. Ears standing straight up, startled from his dreams, old Rascal appeared to be asking the same question. Uno momento mi furry amigo!! Trust me here. "LEGENDARY" - traditional, mythical, storied, fictitious, epic, mythic, fabulous, apocryphal, fanciful, imaginary, tralatitious, etc., etc. Enough? Okay. Now back to "HEY HO". This is Flash In The Pan and St. Peter meeting Bonzo and an eclectic bevy of wildly exaggerated marionette-like Cirque du Soleilish characters in the House of Mirrors on Manhattan Coney Island, struttin' up and down Park Avenue with the hunky-dunky ritzy-glitzy Harlemites. Yeah, crazy stuff I know, and kind of nonsensical, but hey, that's what makes "HEY HO" what it is methinks - a song with seemingly hundreds of moving parts and sounds, somewhat quasi Rube Goldbergian perhaps. Listen to these vocals will ya - perfectly greased, possibly with some kind of brewed high-test concoction of caffelatte espresso mocha cappuccino and lord only knows what else you can funnel in. This is musique musicale ... fun, vampish and downright entertaining. Good enough for me!! We all need to make room for more of this in our hurried scurried lives. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Rascal's cool with it too, in a toasty warm sort of way now he's back to sleep. Glad to have you here Jack!! added to station 12/13/2007 4:47:02 AM

At Least I'm Dry (Serenity)
Where do I start with this song??? Lyrics?? Great !!! Music?? Awesome - beginning with a couple of real sweet intro licks!! Arrangement ?? Masterful !! Vocals ?? Country through and through!! Okay, okay ... here we go .. now I really know where to start .. right here .. right here with this great story-telling Cowboy Country twangin' voice .. lordy how I love the sound of those Lonesome Country Cowboy Blues, and this is just about as good as you're ever gonna get it folks. It was a beautiful sunny summer morning here so me and ol' Rascal left the cabin early, got in our Chevy pickup and stuck Mickey John's "At Least I'm Dry (Serenity)" single CD into the custom installed Pioneer CD player here in the Chevy and rolled down the windows. Rascal got his head stuck out the window on his side real quick like. I turned up the volume and we hit the road headed for morning coffee with the boys down at Mabel's Diner just outside of town with Mickey John's song just a popping the coils in the twin speakers. This is on-road, off-road, any-kind-of-road music folks. I've been headed for your page Gina for what seems like "ages" - days are like that sometimes - but today the special pull of your friendship brought me here to pull up my chair, and the rest as they say, is history. Sleepwalker
To quote Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge", so here I go jumping right in on the first note of this amazing song, hitting the top down switch, turning on to # 10 just outside of Buckeye headed west chasing another mirage through the blazing light of the setting desert sun, destination anywhere but where I've been. Rascal's ears were flying in the wind as I put the pedal to the metal testing and tasting the "red line" zone. What a feeling!! I've always wanted to do that. "Sleepwalker" was pumping out of my surround speakers, but Fleetwood Mac and Abba were playing back-to-back musical chairs in my head. Perhaps it was serendipitous too that a mental Flashback to scenes and George Fenton's soundtrack of "Heaven's Prisoners", a movie I'd seen many years ago, sent a wave of adrenalin streaming through my veins making me feel suddenly twenty years younger as this so very cool, smooth and fast movin' bayou boat cruisin' tune hot-wired a pulsating beat in my head that I hadn't felt for some time. My age collided with my long past youth. The crash was nothing short of a spectacular kaleidoscope of memories, hopes and dreams re-stirred, re-lived, remixed, rewired and determined to never make the same mistakes again. I hear what you're saying Deb. No more pretending. This is real life drama. Live the rest of it in your face, eyes wide open. Forget the flats you think you hit here, you're bang on the heart and soul and every inch of passion in this song. Your vocals are dynamite girl ... hot, intense and beautiful. And Ash, your back-up vocals belong with the very best anywhere. The two of you make a magnetic genetic duo. The production is awesome, the lyrics are perceptive and foreboding, and the musicians are riding the crest of their game. It's a pleasure to have so much fun listening to a song. Thank you Pip and Merry for bringing me face-to-face with my own destiny - my own storm. Congratulations on an excellent song so very well done!! Best wishes. Keep songs like this coming - Legendary Music loves them, and loves you ... and so does this dusty old legendary cowboy!! added to station 5/12/2007 4:24:00 PM

Everybody's Got A Song
Sitting here listening to this great song, I picture you Sam like a wandering troubadour, guitar slung over your shoulder and your demeanour reflecting wisdom gained over the years, assured and confident and ready for an audience of one or one thousand. And when the time comes, like the Amazing Kreskin, you pull a song out of a song. How can this be I ask myself. So I listen once again, this time following where your piquant lyrics, engaging voice and haunting acoustic melody leads me, and like magic Sam, you make both the picture and the song and the performance become complete. You don't need no band Sam - you do it all, and you do it all so well, so perfectly that you make it look and sound so easy. I want to hear it again and again. It is pure and honest, and I can feel it coming straight from your heart Sam. "Everybody's Got A Song" has definitely got a place on Legendary Music. Bravo old troubadour!! Bravo on a performance and a song well done!! added to station 5/10/2007 5:46:46 AM

Whisper on the Wind
Here I am tonight, cozied up close to my blazing fireplace, another very late winter storm having just passed through, reminding us once again that we are forever at the mercy of Mother Nature. Rascal apparently doesn't care much about such things, being quite comfortable and content to have food, shelter, heat and his old Navajo blanket ... oh, and moi also I presume, for company. This is a perfect night to choose to come to Michael's page to listen to this consummate musician, vocalist and performer. It is with the greatest respect and admiration Mike that I chance to offer a few words on another of your songs. For the life of me though, I don't know what possesses me to write the things I do about songs that I review. Perhaps it is a combination from my itinerary of world travels and the storied life that some say I have lived before finally pursuing my life-long dream here in the world of music. In any event, here I am again listening to your beautiful voice and your magical control of instruments as you seductively whisk me away to a place of wonder and imagination in my mind - a place that reminds me of starry nights long ago spent wistfully at the pool side bar of The Hideaway overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean and the moonlit beach of Waikiki, Diamond Head in the distance beckoning me to adventure. I remember envying lovers all around me, enveloped and caressed in each other's arms, wrapped in the wonder of the moment ... their dream much like your song Mike, a "Whisper On The Wind" .. enchanting, beguiling and seductive .. warm, soft and sensual. And you sir, deliver it with an artistry and passion that beautifully reflects your individual persona and musicality as well as your most accomplished and extensive repertoire and discography. IAC is by far the richer by your involvement and by your music. Legendary Music is warmed and charmed by your presence. And I am honored to have met you in this very special and wonderful forum and world of music. added to station 3/26/2008 3:41:26 AM

Valentine
Something has been missing here on Legendary Music for much too long now. Finally it hit me what it was. Perhaps it was the night, or the weather outside the cabin - half snow again, and half rain, and still miserably cold and ever so dreary and melancholy. And although the fireplace warms my body, and old Rascal curled up near me warms my soul with his quiet and loyal company, it was my heart that needed a friend tonight. That's why I turned, as I always seem to do, to music. That's when it hit me. I needed a beautiful instrumental song to take my mind off of the day's activities which had not been especially happy, and to take my mind off of the loneliness and emptiness of the night that was surrounding me, burying me in memories that I longed to be able to relive and that I knew I never could. Interestingly those memories involved a Valentines Day, or rather, a Valentines Night long, long ago. That's when SuperPuss entered my private world here tonight with a special "Valentine"- the perfect instrumental song to fill the loneliness in my night and to fill the empty spot on Legendary Music's playlist. I can feel Titania's heart pining all through this beautifully written and arranged song, pining for lost love, or perhaps stolen love, but love gone nevertheless. There is only one other thing in life other than losing love that can break a heart. And regardless of what the pundits say, I don't believe that a broken heart ever really completely heals. I do know though that music can ease the pain and provide one with the strength to begin the emotional rebuilding and re-living process. "Valentine" is the light at the end of the tunnel song, the candle in the dark, the silver lining on the cloud, the peace in the emotional storm, the comfort for the slowly mending broken heart. I felt every one of those sensations while listening to this beautiful song tonight. Welcome to Legendary Music SuperPuss, and congratulations on your nomination for a Golden Kayak. added to station 3/28/2008 6:32:41 AM

Always Just Beyond
Tonight I felt strangely alone and lonely - no particular reason that I can think of - there never is it seems. Still that never seems to make any difference. Perhaps it was feeling confined to the cabin, thanks to another winter storm that rolled in early today leaving the landscape blanketed with a foot of snow topped with a crusty layer of freezing rain that caused me to feel somewhat cut off and removed from the outside world save and except for the freedom provided me by my various electronic gadgets. The evergreen branches now look like big outstretched hands and fingers wearing thick layers of frosted icing sugar coated mittens. It makes for a pretty picture glistening in the moonlight. And in its own way it is a comforting sight to the heart and soul - especially mine in my soul-searching frame of mind tonight. Thank heavens for the toasty log fire, and for old Rascal by my side, faithful as always regardless of the mood he finds me in. And thank heavens too for the music I chose to listen to tonight - Deanna's "Always Just Beyond". What an absolutely beautiful song, cradled in such an engaging gentle acoustic melody and delicately caressed with Deanna's heartfelt soft and serenely angelic voice. I admire the courage and openness of your lyrics Deanna - their grace, charm and radiance showing through your pain, asking questions, searching for light and answers. I have been in that place. I may even be there now - it's hard to tell sometimes what mirrors we look into as to what we see or feel. Sometimes it seems clear, sometimes it's always just beyond ... such beautifully poignant lyrics. You are where you need to be Deanna ... we all are. And the beauty of life is recognizing, knowing and accepting the reality of it all. Thank you so very much for your special company tonight and for your wonderfully entrancing music and song floating through all the spaces in the old cabin here. It is truly my pleasure to have you on Legendary Music where you belong. added to station 2/2/2008 6:01:26 AM

Harry Manx
A Little Cruel
I had the pleasure of getting turned on and tuned into Harry Manx's infectious music and style this past summer by an old friend in Waterloo Ontario. What a treat it was to discover this gem of an artist and fellow Canadian that most of the world knew about and loved but me. I think I caught up to Harry via MySpace while he was in tour in Australia, introduced myself and told him I was hooked. Harry is the real thing - walkin' talkin' movin' groovin' and layin' it all down ... smooth, hypnotic, captivating, and yes, "deliciously addictive" ... yeah, the Blues by Harry Manx - they don't come or get much better than this. "From street corners, cafes, bars and festivals around the world", and now here at IAC for our listening pleasure and learning how it's really done. "A Little Cruel" - a lot legendary like the man himself. Welcome to IAC Harry, and welcome to Legendary Music. added to station 12/12/2010 4:43:25 PM

Steve April
Pastures Of Plenty
I wasn't particularly looking for an instrumental tune tonight. In fact I'm not quite sure what I was looking for or expecting to find, but that's just what makes the "find" that much more special. First though, I'd like to apologize to those who have left me Shouts over the summer. I've been sidelined from IAC with family and friends and a few concerts that I've performed at up here lately in good old On-tar-i-ari-ari-o ... that's just a little ditty from our province's musical contribution to the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal. Hey, a little geo-musical history is always good isn't it?? Anyway, while I've been slowly working my way down the "Shout" list here at L. M., I've had some anxious moments thinking that Steve and some others might be wondering if I've gone AWOL, or perhaps worse!! No fear, everything is just a matter of time. Well, I went through all the other songs on Steve's page before I came back up to the top and thought, you know what cowboy, why don't you just give a listen to Steve's instrumental piece. It was like striking a musical gold mine!! The bizarre static and scratchy intro was just what roped me in, and from there, well, I was tripping all over my cowboy boots doing the light fantastic from beginning to end on this merry-go-round and round, happy-go-lucky, whistling, forget all your troubles, bubbly, bouncy, sunshine-filled wonderful little prize of a melody. Folks you can have more fun listening to "Pastures Of Plenty" here than watching a barn full of Billy goats on the loose. Well done Steve - no change that: EXCEPTIONALLY well done Steve. Great arrangement, great instrumentation, short and oh so very, very sweet ... and a melody that sounds just like the circus coming into town ... it will make you feel twenty years younger - well it did me ... lol. It might even add years to your life ... and therein folks, lies the beauty of the fountain of music. You bet yer boots I love it!!! It's a pleasure to bring you back here again Steve. added to station 8/22/2008 4:08:11 AM

Carrie Wade
Broken Soldier
Each time I approach one of Carrie's songs I do so with great anticipation for it to begin, wondering what picture she will paint for me, and where she will take me and lift me, and how she will fill my mind with pensive and sober thoughts and inspiration. Well, once again Carrie delivers a song not only from the heart but also from the soul, filled with penetrating thought and emotion that is so much a part of her personas as it is her music, both of which I respect greatly. Her ability to pen and weave lyrics that stretch beyond the horizons of life delving into the farthest and darkest corners of the mind reflects the songwriting craft of this talented artist. Coupled with her poignant chordal playing style, Carrie's songs are copiously filled with much more than what only words and notes could impart - it is the passion that flows from Carrie's heart into her music that sets her apart and above the proverbial radar screen. "Broken Soldier" is a high benchmark song and another gem in your impressive and expanding repertoire Carrie. Congratulations on the song hitting the KIAC Big 50. I'm honored to have you back on Legendary Music. added to station 4/4/2009 4:28:34 AM

Thinkin' 'bout You
Sam my friend .. you've done it again my man. I have to tell you, it takes one whale of a tale or a story to stop me in my tracks from whatever I'm doing and sets right in to give me goose-bumps .. makes me sit up and listen to where its going to take me .. gives me that feeling of deja-vu .. of having been to a similar place or time in my life. Your deeply heartfelt memories and tribute spill out everywhere in this song as your beautiful lyrics paint a poignant picture of that picture on your mantel or shelf, or wherever it sits in your life .. that picture that is buried deep inside your mind and your heart. Did I mention that soft acoustic guitar of yours strumming away enchantingly almost in the background like a beacon of light accompanied by the haunting tapping and shaker mixed into the arrangement .. and that guileless voice of yours Sam .. and your backing harmonies ?? It's all here in "Thinkin' 'bout You" .. all that and more .. I still got those goose-bumps .. likely will have now for most of the day 'thinkin' 'bout you' singing this great song. Congratulatons Sam .. you've nailed another one .. Legendary Music for sure. added to station 6/26/2007 4:21:51 PM
