Welcome.... The Rivergods , fronted by singer/songwriters Ben Parent and Nancy Parent, have played folk-country-roots tinged rock around southern New England since 1997. Employing pedal steel, mandolin, guitars, keyboards and strong vocal harmonies, the Rgods are one of Southeastern CT's longest running and best-known original bands. What you'll find here is a collection of songs from our first two releases, "Capsule" and "Time Has Come", along with some previously unreleased tracks from "RIVOLVER", a ten-year retrospective collection of unreleased "B-sides", reflecting the band's evolution and musical growth over the last decade. The Rivergods' latest CD, "Signs", is now finished and available at iTunes! We've added three here below for your enjoyment. Engineer/producer Eddie Shea at The Underground in Ledyard, CT. contributed additional guitar tracks to "The Point" and generously enlisted the talents of Mike Finnegan (Hammond B3) and Vivian Sessoms (vocals) for the foot-stomping title track. For more information about upcoming shows, visit The Rivergods at our website or on Facebook. Many thanks and a slew of kudos to the staff of IAC and our many new friends here who regularly share their talents and make IAC the best indie site on the net...and for making this another great year for the Rivergods Enjoy the music and thanks for listening. May the Muse be with you!
Big C from CosmoSingles 4 (Cosmodemonic Telegraph/www.hozomeen.org) released 2011
The Point from our latest CD (2011), "Signs"
Signs Mike Finnegan and Vivian Sessoms (currently touring with Joe Cocker) have generously gifted their amazing talents to this one
Buddha On the Road nominated again for Best Folk/Acoustic Rock/Americana Song 2008 from "Time Has Come", released 2002, a beautiful, haunting poem set to song
Time Has Come a medium tempo electric rocker, also the opening track from "Time Has Come", released 2002
Ma Jolie A torch-lit trip to the dark end of the hall.
Oceans Edge uptempo folk rock from an earlier R'god assemblage
Daddy (live) nominated for Best Live Performance Golden Kayak Award 2008rough and rowdy from the Bank Street Cafe 2007
Ballad of Miss Lucinda a real heel-kicker written around the lovely Miss Lucinda, a character reminiscent of John Prine's "Come Back To Us Barbara Lewis Hare Krishna Beauregard" (Time Has Come, 2002)
Epilogue A "valse triste" about movin' forward (Capsule, 2001)
Capsule Title track from the Rivergods' first full-length CD, released 2001

Slow Fire Narcotic dreamscape of longing and desire
Daddy (studio cut) TIME HAS COME lineup: Ben Parent, vocals, guitar (acoustic/electric) Nancy Brossard-Parent, vocals, pedal steel Amanda Just, viola Jim Carpenter, guitar (acoustic/electric) Sandy "Sandman" Allen, vocals, mandolin, electric guitar Mike Palazzolo, bass Tom Trombley (of the Reducers) Drums
Slow Fire ( IAC mastered from mp3) Out of curiosity, and because it had not yet been mastered, I submitted Slow Fire to the IAC mastering service. I now understand the mp3 is a low quality file, but it's what I had on-hand. I think it turned out pretty well. Definitely an improvement.I put both versions back to back for the equally curious.
T.D.W (Truck Drivin' Woman) Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses played backwards
Anchor's Weight Another from "Capsule", this one has a bit of a Celtic feel to it. Highlights are Amanda's viola and Nan's gifted vocal talent.
Ten Mile Yearning a medium tempo country-ish ballad...sweet vocal harmony interwoven with pedal steel and viola...from "Capsule", released 2001 (one of my personal favorites)
Last Train "Booze and pills, your habits...they are institutions"
(Ode to a) Lone Star Girl from the "RIVOLVER" collection...free download ( here )
Sometimes You Don't Get It a flat out rocker, heavy on the electric guitar spontaneous session jam (Time Has Come, 2002)

7/4/2010 2:05:50 PM hey Mike! Great to hear from ya! I am here about as often you it seems by your message board. Yours is the first communication i have had with anyone in months. I guess you get out what you put in...and i don't invest any time here anymore. I am at my www.soundclick.com/members/pinedog site daily and have alot of friends there. Unlike you, i never play out... so, sadly, SC is the extent of my social life. I am home FT now working here on the homestead...go days on end without even leaving my little cabin in the woods. I just finished my 3rd album though and it includes "Three Ships". It's called "Genesee" and i would be happy to send you a copy when they come in (another week or so) It's all instrumental and along the "3 Ships" line (soundscapes) Not sure if i can find your addy so if you want a copy just let me know. I'll probably only sell a couple so i have to get $100 apiece :-)) Hope it's all good for you and the Jammers. Busy summer gig-wise? Happy 4th my friend...and thanks for stoppin' by. Still listen to your cd's often. your friend & fan....... Pine

3/22/2009 11:52:52 PM Hi Mike...Thanks for stoppin' by my neglected page. I see your message was dated the day after my hard drive crashed :-( Took two weeks to get back on line and and i'm still trying to reload programs and deal with all the lost links and stuff. What a mess. It sure was one hell of a cold and snowy winter here...kinda like i remember them being when i was a kid in the 50's. We made her though...and i got some good time in up in my studio. Completed a long in the works blues/rock album. I'll be uploading a new tune every other week, so if ya think of it and ya have time, stop by and see what ya think. Gotta get over and hear your new tunes. Take care man...Pine
